Superb lighting, but pricey,
First of all, I don’t believe in manmade global warming. I’m not a greenie, and I own a pickup truck. That being said, I do believe we should all use the least energy we can, for various social-political reasons, and even more so if it saves me money!
We have replaced almost all the lights in our home with CFL bulbs, but I hate them – they are slow to fully illuminate, most can’t be dimmed, and they don’t last as long as they say. Some hum noisily.
So I’ve tried a few LED bulbs – NONE were a hit with my wife, until this one!
We bought some of the eaglelight bulbs that were non-wide angle, and although the light was very pleasing to me, it was more directional and did not flood the room evenly. This version is a perfect match to any incandescent par38 bulb – you won’t know the difference except they run SO much cooler and use far less electricity.
Pros:
Perfect warm light (matches incandescent bulbs you already have). If you want the more blue daylight/full spectrum they also make other versions
Instant on
Very broad dispersion of light – true flood
Totally quiet (no hum like some CFL)
Uses only 11 watts – that’s 90% less than the bulbs I had before
Dimmable
Should last a long time (have only had mine about 6 months however)
Very well constructed, not like some cheapo knockoffs with plastic fins, these run cool
Cons
Expensive (but if you use for more than an hour or two a day, they will pay for themselves)
A bit large – they stick down just below our can lights, but just barely and that actually helps evenly illuminate
I’m sure these will be coming down in price quickly over the next decade, but honestly I’m going to keep buying them as I have lights burn out. I’ve got dozens of can lights in my house and in the summer time that is a lot of heat pouring in – these make a big difference.
