Question by Brave Jiggler: Why does my LCD projector lamp turn off after 30 seconds?
I have an Ultralight SV1+ LCD projector, which is an older model but it has relatively low use hours on it. It has worked very consistently, but now all of a sudden it has stopped functioning properly. I hadn’t moved it or changed anything regarding it since it worked properly. It still turns on and performs perfectly fine for about 30 seconds, but then the lamp automatically shuts off. Meanwhile the other components keep running and the power remains on. The bulb seems like it’s just fine during that 30 seconds, the entire unit is very clean, and all the fans and connections are in proper shape. Any ideas? I could probably service it myself if I had a hint of what to look for… thanks!

Hi

Some machines do that if there is no signal or no signal on the connections its looking at .So either switch connections or select the correct connection before it turns off.May be the signal is dropping out or the projector needs the factory reset using because it is not working correctly and is switching off with a signal.Good luck

Do I Need a New Projector Lamp?

by Okinawa Soba

Question by raknerudz: Do I Need a New Projector Lamp?
Hi, my projector I got was a good deal and has been working great! But in recent months on the right side of the screen a gray crescent-moon shaped shadow has gently started to appear. You can see through it but anything in it is darker and it is quite irritating… The shadow has gotten bigger and now takes up nearly a fourth of my screen. Is this a problem that would be solved with a new lamp or does this sound like an internal problem? Thanks!

Also- One day I called tech support on the issue and when I was talking the guy asked me to get the serial number and to do it I had to flip the projector up side down and after I did that I flipped it back up after about 2 minutes and the gray thing was gone for a little while! Then came back! (This is also when it first started to appear)

A Sony VPL-VW100 projector with an updated bulb (to solve a non-start problem), whines when the bulb is on. The fan can be heard when the projector is turned off, much quieter than the whine from the bulb, both audible in the video.

Question by SEXY: How do I test my projector lamp?
Is there a way to test my lamp for a good lamp.
I have 3 lamps someone told me they work.
I do have a problem with my projector. The bulb doesnt light up.
It had problems before with no light up.
No visual defects on bulb.
Is there a way to test them all?
They are very expensive If I throw them out they could be worth 0 a peice. I could keep them if I repair my projector or it could be the bulb.
The projector powers up with all the fans running. Well the bulbs are important.
Please inform me on how to test these. bulbs

You need to get someone with a good volt/ohm meter that knows how to use it. He will set it on the lowest ohm setting, then take a reading from the metal on the side of the bulb socket, to the other connection or connections at the tip, depending on the shape of the bulb socket, and whether there are multiple elements inside.

If he is careful, he can also check for voltage in the socket of the projector itself, proving that the power supply to the bulb is still intact.

Good luck, Mac.

Question by moonnightingale: why my Projector Lamp not giving good quality result?
Last month i replaced my projector lamp with a new one as the previous was giving lamp warning. After replacement of new lamp, the projector output quality has reduced. Can anyone help me that while purchasing Projector lamp , what all factors we need to look in For example i asked from shop keeper about its life and he told me its life is 2000 hours.
are there other factors also other than telling only model number.
are the lamps which can be fitted in same projector can have different Wattage or lumenous or brightness or any other Factor. Plz Explain in detail.

Answer by SgtPepper
Yes, a lot of projectors use some common projector lamp types and some of the common lamp housings can have different intensity (read as watts or lumens) lamps fitted into them as required. You should choose the lamp as per your projector model instructions.

If you bought the projector bulb as per your instructed model number then the problem maybe in the lamp or in the projector settings.

35 Watt MR-11 12V Bulb

It has a 1000 hour lamp life. Wow, it has a whopping 8 lumens.

It costs only from Hasbro. It’s not your normal high pressure mercury arc lamp that usually costs 0, 250 watt, 2000 lumens with a 4000 lamp life. You get what you pay for.

If possible, could you provide a link?
I bought a star master, but it was a piece of junk. It’s for a girl. She’s 6 months old and I just need something interesting to light up her room. Preferably something that can be plugged in. Any ideas?
Thanks!

Since it’s for a six month old, I would recommend Cloud B Twilight’s Night Lights. They have both a ladybug and a turtle that I have seen. Here is a link to what they look like, Amazon has them cheaper though I think. They shoot off constellations and so forth. They are so cool! http://gifts.barnesandnoble.com/Toys-games/Twilight-Ladybug/e/9781400669448

Projector Lamp Light Life…??

by billjacobus1

Question by gthtjtkt: Projector Lamp Light Life…??
Hi, I purchased a projector with a lamp life of 3000 hours. We use it about 10 hours a day, so approx. 10 months it should last.. i checked online, and the replacement lamp is 0!!! So I was wondering, what does it mean lamp life? Does it mean, after 3000 hours it won’t work at all… or it’ll work but not recommended to use because quality has just degraded? I can live with quality degration. Anyone know where to get cheap lamps.. the newer the projector, are the lamps cheaper? Or the older?

Best answer:

Answer by J.D.
Usually it degrades and the picture starts getting dimmer and dimmer. Other times the bulb can literally explode inside that wire cage it’s mounted in… rare, but it does happen.
You should be able to set your unit for an “extended life” setting for the bulb that reduces the intensity about 10-15%, but almost doubles the life expectancy. It should be an option on your setup menu… usually within the part where you reset the lamp timer.
Try www.purelandsupply.com or www.focusedtechnology.com for replacement units at a better price.

Projector Lamp Replacement?

Question by bobaganoosh: Projector Lamp Replacement?
I have a “Home theater projector” that uses a SHP 180W lamp. Can I use a SHP 180W lamp from a “Data projector.” I mean both lamps are same wattage. Both look the same and both have “SHP 112″ on the back. What do I need to worry about?

Thanks

Answer by Brad/Diana B
It should work. There really ios no difference between a Data and Home Theater projector other than the data projector may have other input option.

Multi Media Projector – Lamp?

Question by morrkope: Multi Media Projector – Lamp?
I am interested purchasing a Multi Media Projector but I am concerned if the lamp dies it is defective, how can we as a consumer protect ourselves?

The suppliers tell me that the lamp warranty is for 90 days or 500 hours.

Please advise.

Thank you

Best answer:

Answer by agb90spruce
Lamps on many consumer purchases (e,g, cars, trailers) are rarely covered by the equipment warranty. This is because they can be abused and are considered to be replacable.

That said, a 90 day warranty on a projector lamp is standard. Some sellers also offer an extended lamp warranty for a reasonable amount. You may wish to consider one if you are worried.

Lamps will usually last 2-4000 hrs if treated correctly, but there are some precautions you should be aware of including:

- Dont’ touch a lamp with bare fingers during installation (the oil can cause them to burn out)

- Make sure the projector is mounted so that heat can dissipate. This includes cleaning filters as recommended by the manufacturer.

- Make sure you avoid fast on/off cycles. It’s important to leave a lamp on for at least several minutes before turning off, and always make sure the lamp cools down using the fan before unplugging the projector. Many projectors automate this process.

- Use an uninteruptible power supply (UPS) to ensure that if there is a power cut the lamp isn’t suddenly switched off without a chance to cool. It has been reported that lamp life can be cut by as much as 20% from even one improper power down.

Other than that if a lamp doesn’t fail soon after installation (covered by the 90 day warranty) it should be good for years of use at 2-3 hrs/day.
